A PhD student in Experimental Polymeric Materials and Composites (M/F)

Title: Reactive extrusión to build 3D structures (REx-3D)

Missión

The PhD student will have to produce the biopolymers and related nanocomposites by reactive extrusion and transform them into 3D structures for applications ranging from aerospace to the biomedical field. The assessment of the structure-processing-properties relationship of the polymer materials will be performed as well as their full characterization with focus their physicochemical and insulation performance.
LIST is extremely well equipped in terms of polymer processing equipment, structural analysis together with molecular, thermal, physicochemical and mechanical (incl. durability) characterization techniques. The PhD student will carry out his experimental works at LIST, being part of an international team of chemical and materials engineers within the SUSMAT research unit and the Materials Central Laboratory. Patents, academic papers and conferences talks will be the main outcomes of this PhD.
This PhD thesis will be conducted at LIST in the frame of the Doctoral School in Science and Engineering at the University of Luxembourg (UniLu) Prof. Philippe Dubois (LIST, Uni.Lu) will be director of the PhD thesis. At LIST, we have a strong network of academic and industrial collaborators all around the world, which will give the opportunity for the PhD student to obtain secondments during the project.

Profile

  • Master degree in chemical engineering or materials (polymers)
  • Excellent academic track record
  • Excellent experimental skills
  • Abillity for both individual work and collaborative tema work
  • Excellent english and/or French level, both spoken and written
